Escare Inc

Escare would like to acknowledge the passing of a dear friend,
Des Keitel in December 2008.

Des was a truly encouraging man, who worked in the most dignified manner at Escare since 1994. Des came to Escare after the development of the Furniture Exchange Programme (Initiated by former worker Tracy Daunt and further developed by Fran Kuchel and Jo Aberle).

The program called for volunteers and through his involvement at the Freemasons, Des came on board.  Des had all the right qualities to ensure this program had a positive and lasting legacy for Escare. Des provided over 10 years of service to this program that ended in 2004.

 Des was also a dedicated Escare committee member from 1995 until last year.

The Furniture Programme  provided a significant pathway for marginalised groups to enter Escare services.   Des’s commitment and trusting nature ensured  that the strategy of the Furniture Programme built a strong connection between Escare and marginalised groups in Esperance.

Des went respectfully into people’s homes; collecting or dropping off furniture. Many of our clients were facing stresses in their lives and  this stress was  often evident.

Des never made any judgement of people and this was appreciated by clients as well as staff and committee members at Escare.

Des Keitel was a 'gentleman' who contributed so very much to Escare and the community of Esperance.

With the developments at Escare and ensuing changes it is important for the history of the people who have been part of this meaningful  service to families be acknowledged so we remember the values of the people who made it possible; thanks Des
